Kips Bay Dallas 2022 Loves Perennials

It’s been a long winding road for the designers behind the Kips Bay Dallas Show House. With drama aplenty, this year’s crop of designers deserve a big round of applause, and maybe a glass a wine, for their colorful and dynamic spaces. Shades of mauve and lavender peppered the house, along with a symphony of patterns like plaids and botanicals. Of course, a slew of designers flocked to Perennials for upholstery and drapery needs. Keep reading to see our favorites.

Alessandra Branca

Queen of lush classic-inspired design, Alessandra Branca transformed the home’s towering sitting room into a vibrant space reminiscent of a garden. Requiring large-scale furniture to match the space, Branca designed a large sectional covered in Very Terry (Blanca), picking up on textural elements throughout the room.

Atelier Davis

Jessica Davis of Atelier Davis sprinkled her Primary Hall and Powder Room with gorgeous works of art. Pulling shades of green from the Erika Huddleston piece above, Davis upholstered a modern tufted bench in Plushy (Chartreuse).

Patricia McLean

Atlanta-based designer Patricia McLean took the traditional route with nods to global design when creating her “Traveler’s Retreat.” McLean balanced paisley upholstery and pillows by covering the headboard and a lounge chair in Perennials’ In the Rough (Beach).

Leslie Martin and Kim Meardon of M+M Interior Design provided a cozy traditional family room perfect for reading and socializing. A seating nook sits underneath a canopy of Tick Tock Stripe (Dove), perfectly complementing the space’s blues and reds.

Byron Risdon

DC-based interior designer Byron Risdon designed an outdoor oasis with shades of mauve and whites. In addition to covering two sofas in In the Loop (Shell), Risdon upholstered two beautifully bulbous lounge chairs in Cadence (Desert Rose). He also included a small seating area with retro-style lounge chairs with cushions in Good Vibrations (Desert Rose). Alongside vintage pieces, Risdon also accessorized with Sutherland Furniture’s Dickinson African Tables.

Project AZ

Ahmad AbouZanat of Project AZ created an ethereal and lavender-covered sanctuary complete with meditation corner, eclectic seating area, statement coffee bar, and power bath. In addition to using Tom Faulkner Lily Cocktail Tables from David Sutherland Showroom, Ahmad accessorized his sofa with Perennials’ Whippersnapper Fringed Pillows (Breakers).

Enveloped in an ombre room filled designed by LC Studio Design, an oversized sectional provides ample seating. The piece is upholstered in Perennials’ Crepe Du Jour (White Sands).

Isabel Ladd

Isabel Ladd put her uber-maximalist spin on the home’s back patio area. In a sea of prints and colors, Ladd included Perennials’ Jake Stripe (Chocolate) on a folding deck chair. She also used Tangled (Red Coral) on chair cushions in the adjoining outdoor space.

From the Ground Up

Dallas-based landscape designer Dan Houchard of From the Ground Up tackled the show house’s lawn, filling it with Perennials and Sutherland galore. On one end of the lawn, a line of Sutherland Poolside Armless Chaises are adorned in Go To Stripe (Ice Blue) and accessorized by Zigi tables (Snow) and Octagonal 9′ Umbrellas. The umbrella canopies feature Feel the Heat (Green Flash) on the inside with Knotty (White Sands) on the out. A second seating area features four Otti Lounge Chairs (Bone) with cushion in Perennials’ vegan leather Hi ‘n Dri (Sea Salt). Houchard placed a Poolside Three Seat Sofa in the middle with cushions in Knotty (White Sands). Fabrics on the pillows include Silky (Shell), Bebop (Nightshade), and Odyssey (Grotto). The area is centered by Sutherland’s Peninsula Round Crossbar Coffee Table.
